The Fellowship of Las Cruces Area Rocketry Enthusiasts

F.L.A.R.E. was formed in 1994 as the “Las Cruces Aerospace Club”. The original focus was not just model rocketry, also astronomy, space exploration, science fiction, and space modeling. In 1998, members changed the club's name, and decided to focus on rocketry.

FLARE is a registered non-profit club affiliated with both the National Association of Rocketry (NAR) and the Tripoli Rocketry Association (TRA). These National Rocketry organizations foster contest rocketry and educational activities, some in conjunction with NASA and the National Science Foundation.

 

FLARE offers high quality monthly events in sport rocketry to the general public. We also conduct high-power rocketry events most months. FLARE offers open rocket building workshops several times a year. Launch events are NAR or Tripoli insured and are supervised by safety officers.

FLARE works with the NMSU Atomic Aggies, Team America Rocketry Challenge, and STEM teachers in our schools, to offer professional quality rocket building and launch activities designed to inspire excitement in young people. All activities are safe, supervised, and family-friendly. You do not need to be a member of FLARE to fly with us.

Member dues are collected annually:

​

• Individual membership is $10.00 per year

• Family membership is $15.00 per year.

Membership benefits include our regular launch announcement list, most* HPR launches, special events, and a whole lotta rocketry experience and good humor.

* Some launches may require NAR or TRA membership. At SMRA (Alamogordo) launches we ask for a donation to cover servicing of porta-potties and maintenance of the grounds.
